DALLAS—January, 23, 2012– Centennial Medical Center is making it even easier on patients who have to visit the emergency department with its new online service: InQuickER. This emergency room service improves the patient experience by allowing those seeking care to hold a place at the ER online while waiting in the comfort of their own homes.
Patients can hold a place online at Centennial completing an online form and arriving at the projected treatment time. The patient will be seen by a health professional in the emergency room within 15 minutes. The new service is only intended for individuals with non-life threatening medical conditions.
“Centennial Medical Center has started using this system because we know people want more convenience and communication when they receive medical care,” said Dr. David Arai, emergency department medical director at Centennial. “Waiting in the emergency room can be frustrating. With this service, patients can choose where they wait and receive a projected time of when they will see a healthcare professional.”
Increased demand and decreased capacity are creating traffic jams in ER waiting rooms across the country, according to the American College of Emergency Physicians. To address the growing need to deliver more efficient service and reduce patient stress, Centennial Medical Center is utilizing InQuickER to streamline processes while focusing now, more than ever, on patient satisfaction.
InQuickER does not affect the wait times of other emergency room patients, nor does it allow certain individuals to “cut” in front of others. Additionally, if the projected treatment time changes due to an influx of patients requiring priority treatment, the user will be notified and given an alternate time or a refund. The system also has designed safeguards intended to prevent those who have potentially life-threatening medical conditions from using the InQuickER service. Individuals requiring immediate medical treatment should go immediately to the nearest emergency department or call 911.
